Our first online workshop was held on Monday the 4th of May 2020 on the theme of Household Waste Management. It was coordinated by Thibault, one of our passionate board members. Nine people attended the event, with half being students from DTU and the other half being students from Polytechnic School of Lausanne (Switzerland). After a short introduction, attendees were divided in two discussion groups to first discuss critical waste fractions, and then share potential solutions to deal with them!
Interestingly, the two groups had very different approaches, despite being given the same question. One group discussed waste reduction teqniques to tackle some of the volume-wise biggest waste fractions (e.g plastic). The other group meanwhile engaged in discussing which factors complicate waste fractions, to finally come up with a list of characteristics to help classify waste fractions.
Overall, it was an interesting experience, especially for the organisation’s as we’ve never tried this format before. Some improvements can definitively be made, but the concept worked well and motivated us to throw more online events!
Thank you to all participants who took their precious time during confinement to still think about the SDGs. You came up with truly interesting discussions and had a great discipline with the online format! We cannot wait to see what’s next!
